We assist and represent expats and migrants wherever they are. Although we have a strong focus and expertise on Dutch nationality and immigration law, we slowly grow and include many other countries and fields. British, German, Australian and a dozen other countries. Not all of our countries and lawyers are listed here. Other fields include employment/labour, tenancy and contract law and a variety of aspects that comes with moving country and living over a border.

The work we are known for
Dutch nationality is perhaps the largest part of our practice, and the reason most people find us. It is not the limit of what we do.
The Netherlands
Nationality/citizenship: dual or triple nationality, the retrospective return of a lost nationality, (ancestry) nationality investigations and statements, passports and identity documents, naturalisation, any one of the 20 option procedures, the 10-/13-year clock and the Tjebbes proportionality test. Immigration: EU Freedom of Movement rights, the Dutch-American Friendship Treaty (DAFT), non-EU nationals, Dutch language and integration courses. Dual nationality alongside another country, South Africa included. Labour/employment or contract disputes as a foreigner. Arrival, registration and settling in.
United Kingdom
Visas, settlement and British citizenship, including for people holding more than one nationality. The Brexit withdrawal agreement and your rights i and more.
Germany
Immigration and nationality matters, with a German lawyer in the team assisting you.
United States
US immigration and citizenship with the assistance of a nice and very effective US Lawyer. Not arriving but wanting to leave the US? Then consider DAFT entrepreneurs. Also Americans who have lost and wish to recover Dutch nationality.
Elsewhere
On occasion we work with lawyers in Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar and others — dual nationality questions wherever they arise. Sometimes we can refer for immigration matters. Often we work together with a local lawyer.
What else comes with moving country
Immigration or nationality/citizenship is rarely the only thing a person needs. Here a little bit of all the other things we assist with when asked.
Employment, tenancy and contracts
Labour law, tenancy and general contract questions for people working and living abroad. Important if your residence permit is linked to your employment (sponsorship).
Arriving and settling in
Registration at the municipality. The order of events, the dangers of delays affecting you later, the practical steps after the paperwork, and if needed help on arrival in the Netherlands.

International money transfers and financial services at destination, and a bit about what our own work costs.

How to ask for our help and assistance
You write to us
Tell us what happened and when. We then consider if we can assist you. First queries are in English or Dutch; other languages are welcome but may create delays in answering you. Keep your message short and to the point.
We tell you where you stand
When we answer you we explain if we think that there is perhaps a possible solution/route. We can't always be sure about that until you are a client and we had the opportunity to do a full review/investigation. Our initial answer is not formal advice. We then explain our fees and how to sign up and become a client. And if we think you may have no case we say so clearly.
You decide
If you want us to advise, assist or act, we send you our retainer agreement setting out the work and our fees. You can set time/budget limits. Nothing begins until you have agreed and signed it. We mostly ask for a deposit. This could be 1 hour or more. We then invite you for a (video) consultation or if you wish we can continue in writing.
