I was extremely stressed and nervous when I received a letter from the IND saying that I was not entitled to a permanent residence permit. I met all the requirements, but as a researcher, I had to temporarily move to Sweden for two years while continuing to collaborate with Dutch institutions.

I wasn’t applying for the permit just so I could leave the Netherlands — quite the opposite. I had to relocate for my research, but my intention was always to come back to the Netherlands and continue my research there in the future. After living in the Netherlands for more than five years, I really wanted the security of permanent residence, which would allow me to breathe a little and have more freedom to find better job opportunities.

I asked for advice in Facebook groups and spoke with other expats who had been through similar situations. Several people recommended that I contact Kris and his team.

The day I received the letter saying, “Your permanent EU residence permit has been approved,” I cried. I honestly couldn’t believe it. Kris and Marinka acted quickly and helped me enormously throughout the process.

I am incredibly grateful to both of them, and I would recommend them to anyone going through a similar situation. They are kind, professional and genuinely helpful.

Thank you again Kris and Marinka ❤️
