Who we are
Habsburg & Kuijk Legal Services ltd is a legal services company registered in England and Wales. We advise on nationality/citizenship law and issues, as well as immigration and associated laws and services. We are specialists where it comes to Dutch nationality law, but have meanwhile grown and also include lawyers in some other countries covering their laws.
Why us
Almost everyone here has moved country themselves. Kris works between the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Vietnam; Marinka between the Netherlands, Portugal and Indonesia; Chloë between Denmark and Canada; Jordy is in the Netherlands, Alexander in Germany, Lou in Australia, John in the United Kingdom. We have stood in the queues and filled in the forms in a language that was not our own. That is not a marketing line — it is why the firm exists, and it is why we explain things the way we do.
What we are good at
Dutch nationality is the core. People who may still be Dutch and do not know it. People who lost it without being told. People who want it back, or want it proved, or have just been refused. Around that sits the immigration work: moving to the Netherlands, bringing a partner or a family, the DAFT route for Americans, and objections or appeals when a decision goes the wrong way. Alongside it sits the business side — freelancers, start-ups and small international companies — and the British, German and Australian work our colleagues there handle.
How we work
We tell you early what we think is possible, what it is likely to cost, and what we would do first. If we think you do not need us, we say so — the free self-help resources on this site exist for exactly that. If we do take the work on, you can set a budget in hours, and you can stop at any point. We will be frank with you about fees, chances and the best route. This work can be complex, and if new information changes the outlook later, we will say so then too.
The proof
Many clients have written up what happened, in their own words, and you can read all of them. Client stories. The law library holds the statutes, judgments and translations the advice is built on, much of it hard to find in English anywhere else.
We don’t know it all, but we do know a lot, and what we don’t know we do know how to find out. You know!?
